The Global Carménère Masters 2024

RECOGNISING A REDISCOVERED CLASSIC

The Global Carménère Masters will seek out the very best this variety has to offer. After a century almost forgotten as a historic Bordeaux blending grape, Carménère has developed a formidable reputation in the 30 years since its rediscovery in Chile. This dedicated competition will, for the first time, apply our rigorous judging system to Chile’s emblematic variety. Entries are welcome from all over the country, as well as any international producers brave enough to challenge Chile’s Carménère crown.

This competition is open to any varietal Carménère, or blends containing at least 50% Carménère. They can be produced anywhere in the world. Entries will be tasted by our expert judges – all Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers or senior buyers – in as blind tasting format. Wines will be awarded medals from Bronze through to Gold, with the very finest winning the title of Master. Any medal is a widely respected accolade and a powerful tool to open new markets and opportunities, and will be published in the drinks business magazine.
